چکیده

3. The presence of equimolar concentrations of pyridoxal phosphate prevented the inhibition by isoniazid. Stable hydrazones of isoniazid did not inhibit transaminase activity. These compounds, which were stable in the presence of heavy suspensions of B.C.G. organisms, had tuberculostatic activity comparable with isoniazid. 4. Transaminase activity was found in extracts of cells which had been exposed to isoniazid under bactericidal conditions. 5. It appears improbable that the bactericidal activity of isoniazid can be explained by its action on a transaminase or other enzyme requiring pyridoxal phosphate.

Sensing of Iron Ions by Solid Phase Spectrophotometry

A new sensitive and selective spectrophotometric method for the determination of iron using a PVC membrane containing bathophenanthroline and dioctylphethalate as the solid phase extraction medium is investigated. Fe(II) in an aqueous sample solution is trapped on the membrane with an anion species, picrate ion and forms a complex with bathophenanthroline. The absorbance of the red-orange m...

Spectrophotometric Determination of Mefenamic Acid in Biological Samples Using Magnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles as a Sorbent for Solid Phase Extraction

This work investigates the potential of magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles as an adsorbent for separation and preconcentration of trace amounts of mefenamic acid in aquatic and biological samples, prior to spectrophotometric determination. The magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MIONs) were synthesized by mixing of ferrous and ferric chlorides. The possible parameters affecting the enrichment were opt...

Determination of Iron Species by Combination of Solvent Assisted-Dispersive Solid Phase Extraction and Spectrophotometry

A simple, rapid and sensitive solvent assisted-dispersive solid phase extraction method was developed for the extraction of iron(II) prior to its spectrophotometric determination. The Fe(II) reacted with 2,4,6-tris(2-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine, neutralized with sodium dodecyl sulfate and extracted onto the fine particles of benzophenone which were formed upon rapid injection of a mixture of benzop...

Ethyl Maltol as a New Ligand for Spectrophotometric Determination of Iron

In this study a new simple selective and sensitive spectrophotometric procedure for determination of Fe(III) is described. It is based on the formation of a colored complex between ferric iron and ethyl maltol, a strong and highly selective ligand for Fe(III). After mixing sample and reagent, and incubating at the room temperature, Fe(III)-ethyl maltol complex was extracted with different ...
